BK Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pilani has inaugurated BKBIET Innovation Centre(BIC) to promote Startup On 7th Dec 2016, BK Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET), Pilani held an opening ceremony of BKBIET Innovation Centre (BIC) for students, alumni, faculties, deans, director of the Institute and many high profile attendees. The objective of the BIC Centre in BKBIET was to promote the spirit of research & development, entrepreneurships and startups in the Institute. The event was sponsored by Birla Tyre Industry and BKBIET Institute. Mr. Animesh Banerjee – President of the Kesoram Industry, who was the chief guest of the event, launched the Brochure and Website in the presence of Mr. Suresh Sharma- CA of the Kesoram Industry, Dr. V. N. Dhaulakhandi– Director of the Birla Museum in Pilani, Mr. Dilnawaj Khan– Manager for Business Development and Program Coordinator of Jaipur based startup Oasis. Later on, the chief guest inaugurated the BIC Lab and urged the students to come up with innovative ideas in tackling challenges faced by the Indian society. The event saw multiple interactions and discussions on research culture, innovative ideas, entrepreneurs, mentors, supports and sponsorships of the BIC. The students demonstrated several innovative ideas and also presented several startup projects along with the alumni. The BIC initiative in BKBIET is in line with Modi government’s startup India.

B K Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology, BKBIET, instigated in the year 2007 by a great philanthropist and successful entrepreneur Syt. Basant Kumar Birla, has started Birla Professional Training and Research Center(BPTRC) under the able guidance of Smt. Manjushree Khaitan. To add another feather to the cap, BKBIET Innovation Centre is budding initiative in line with virtual reality of digital and startup India.

The vision of BIC is collaborative approach of industry and academia towards manifestation of research, development and entrepreneurial culture on a technical campus, to visualize, making of students technologically and intellectually profound. Main mission will be to mobilize knowledge resources thrown for the basic and applied research, innovative projects and startup solutions. Exposure of the young undergraduate students in such areas will enable BIC in accumulating contributions to healthy manufacturing ecosystem of the country. The technology driven startups will reach to a large section of Indian communities by simplifying their life in the years to come.

BIC will take initiatives to –

  • Provide best quality research environment in multidisciplinary Engineering and Technology fields for various industrial and societal challenges where the young students will become the job creators instead of job seekers with diversified employment opportunities.
  • Identify, promote and exult the talents of ambitious students through their creative idea that will be transformed into innovations and further into technological initiation for demonstration and commercialization.
  • Propel the students for innovation challenges at National and International levels to unleash their potentials in various entrepreneurial and startup nurturing platforms.

Additionally, BIC will conduct various programs and events such as motivational seminars and symposiums, workshops, knowledge sessions, hackathons, innovation-challenge competitions, business-plan competitions. It will also provide post competition supports.
